To some extent, everyone has been involved in trading. Some more than others. This thread is to share your history of significant trades/things that affected what you're like today. If you are like me, most of your old screenshots are long gone, but meh w/e. Just post a trade/timeline of trades you've made that shape where you've gotten today. Pics are nice if you have any!

Anyway here's my timeline. Been kinda rocky!

06

-Early 06 I go to the Best Buy and trade 40 bucks for a copy of GW (my most significant trade ever!)
-I trade a Drago's Flatbow given to me by my guild leader for a Crystalline Sword
-I trade the Crystalline for 230e
-I buy a Panda from my friend for 230e
-I sell the Panda for 500e
-I buy a Kanaxai for 500e

07

-I sell the Kanaxai for 1120e
-I buy a Greased Lightning for 1750e
-Mid 07 rolls around and shit happens, I am forced to start over

-After months rebuilding I buy an El phantasmal for 150e, I was uber 1337

-I sell the Tonic for 280e
-I buy an El Auto for 130e, sell for 180e
-I buy a Ded Vizu for 500e (way OP at the time)

-I trade the Ded Vizu for an Unded Vizu.
-I buy a Ded Zhed for 200e
-I trade the Zhed for Unded Shiro'ken+Alot

-I get a free Island Guardian

-My friend loans me a Kanaxai and I run around like an idiot with it pretending to be badass

-The Kanaxai gets stolen and after getting the Kanaxai back ded, my friend gives it to me

-My friend quits and gives me an Unded Panda and Polar Bear
-I trade the Polar Bear for a Ded Vizu
-I Ded the Panda
-I buy another Unded Panda for 1750e
-I sell Unded Panda for..

-I end up with alot of stuff that I show off like a noob on my homepage

-I buy a Ded Panda

-Now having a full set of minis, I retire from trading for about a year
-I get bored, Ded my IG then buy another Panda

-An old friend comes back and I let him borrow my old account, he quits again leaving for me his no longer wanted riches, and a nice Henchman tonic, and a Gold Trim Guild

-I get uber rich

-I buy a Ded MKG for the heck of it

-I buy another Panda

-I p trade vigorously and buy a host of lower end minis, as an example

-Shit happens and I'm forced to start all over again, though this time that may not happen

I know I'm forgetting literally thousands of trades along the way, but I cba to remember every single one, these are some that stuck out to me though even as I'm writing this I have thought of more big ones.. oh well

I started off buying Crystallines, Dual Modded Shields and other rare items turning EVERYTHING around. I only had kept a few items. Ran alot of chests and got lucky id'ing items myself as well. I kept buying and reselling. Factions comes out and I sat in Kaining buying and selling all the lovely Factions skins. Particularly made ALOT off +5 Energy weapons. Everyone was 55'ing and had a Denravi Sword but NOW you could get good looking skins so I was buying +5's for 5-30kea and selling for 100k - +30e back when ecto was 18-20k ea. Minipets were out and I got lucky trading a +5 sword I paid 5k for on a Prince Rurik. Traded the Prince Rurik and another Item I got really Cheap for a Bone Dragon. Sold Bone Dragon for 65e. I did most of my sales in Guru Auctions as well where people paid alot more than in game or forums. Sold my Kuunavang in pre for 95e

. Was also doing a chest running service once titles came out and made a crap ton on unidents. Continued buying and selling. Got a r7 15^50 FDS for 50e from one of my unident clients. I actually had kept that 1 for awhile. Got into rare minis when Ascalon Int 1 took over as the High End place to be. Bought Naga for 110e. Sold Naga for 225e. Bought Oni for 160e and a Ghostly Hero for 450e. DUPERS arrived and I sold the Oni for 1750e. Refused to sell my Ghostly Hero. I bought myself my very first title on my newly decided main character my assassin. Funny that I had Source of Wisdom before a protector title

. EotN came out and I "Customized" my Ghostly Hero to my Assassin. Continued to work on titles while of course bought and sold. I made alot each year for birthday pets on the first day of release buying and selling making a stack or 2 year 3 and 4. Got Mad King Thorn and sold for 250e as well (lucky me). Sold my newly dedicated Ghostly after they changed from custo to ded. I got 1,150e for him dedicated when everyone seemed to want Ghostly. I bought Vizu for 400e and dedicated resold for 350e bought Zhed for 220e and dedicated resold for for 180e. Bought Shiroken for 400e dedicated and resold for 300e then got Naga, Oni, Grawl, and Yeti all fairly cheap dedicated and resold for decent amount. Continued buying and selling. Got God Walking sometime in between there. Was Gail's Celebration Weekend. Continued on getting lucky with trades. Zaishen Chest was released and I bought around 900 keys ranging from 2k - 4k and used them got nothing. Ouch !! Title finally released and I got myself rank 7 1/2 in the first week. I was one of the highest ranked at that time and havent used a Z Key since. Mmmm bought and sold bought and sold. I quit and gave EVERYTHING not custoed away and stayed away for 10 months. I returned and a friend gave me back a r9 fire BDS. Another friend gave me back my Canthan Dragon Staff Collection which I had to sell so I could rebuild. (I wish I still had them) Bought Roller Beetle and dedicated and sold. Built up got a few Ghostly Heroes dedicated REALLY cheap kept and resold once they shot up again. Got a Beetlejuice Tonic another Unded Beetle and a Yuletide tonic. Quit and gave it all away with my stacks once again. Came back many months later and have been rebuilding.

Memories of great trades that I didnt note...

Bought r8 Echovald +30 +10 Piercing for 100k and resold for 250e

So many other good trades but cant remember back then /sigh

Meeh, Even tho ive played since 2005, I missed all good times due started trading after Nightfall release with some New cool inscriable items like r9 Gloom shields which were 100kish and inscriable sephis axes and made my first cashes :P

Back then i had no ideas about Oldschool raries and such items being worth much.

Later in the time i did few real lucky trades with some items where i made maybe 100e yey! ;P, And then my trading did start, Spammed like. 1500hours in kamadan making few deals, chatting mostly with friends in there, But most important getting me most items i got now :d

But The fact is, eventho most ppl think im rich and so on, I never had over 500ectos..

Due allways ive Earned like that 100e, ive spent it on sumting and custoed is many places

Anywho, my trading is nothing to write home about

. I've never been a collector of stuff like weapons. The way I see it, if I don't use it, I don't need it. I don't like stuff just sitting there. I sell pretty much anything I get. Occasionally I powertraded in some lower-end stuff, but only ever made a few hundred ectos from it. I was never one to sit around and power trade. Most of my money just came from playing.

I was given a really nice minipet as a gift once upon a time. I miss the person who gave it to me <3.

i woiuld write something here, but i have neither the time nor patience to even consider writing about half of my important trades.
ill give you the one that made all the difference though.

i started trading by buying dyes in presear in bulk, for slightly less than value, then reselling them individually for 200gp-1,000gp more than value depending on color (usually silver/black).from doing this within 2 days of strating GW i had purchased my guild sigil (30k at the time) and had 31k spare.
when i went to post-sear i used some of my 31k to buy a feathered longbow for 22k (stil rememebr the stats) at r9 14>50 20/10 sundering +29 hp (back when these stats were not common).
i resold it 4 hours later for 97k, and the steel i needed for droks armor.

from this capital which i reinvested in other weapons and traded with, within a week, i had 1.3mil to my name. within 2 weeks i had FoW armor and 1.2mil in cash and within a month my net worth was almost 5 mil. GG from there.

I bought an r8 15^50 chaos axe from a kid mid chest run for 35k. Resold it 2 hours later for 405k in cash. The reason this sticks out is the second trade he asked for no collateral and just started handing 100k trades over...

Bought some rare r8 15^50 swords and resold them for 5-20 times what I paid for them a few times.

Bought a Mini Celestial pet set, ded them all.. Decided that mini's were what I was gonna buy and ded so i got a zippy for 515e. I'm broke and resentful that over 5 years of this game, and 4 years on guru, I ignored just about every easy way to make money.

Most I've ever spent in 1 trade was that zippy. Pretty sad eh? NEver ever ever had more than 3 stacks of ecto on me at one time. MUST HIT 4 DIGITS BEFORE THIS GAME DIES!!!

one of the things i was known for was improving the level of trust in the trading world.
...i did many tradeds where i handed 100k over at a time with no collateral...and never got ripped off.

Ah yes I remember the 100k+ trades where you just handed over money without getting anything. Scammers were very happy back then.

Oh... sorry for this maybe little off topic, but here's 750ectos upfront trade (screen is german though, sorry):

Tbh that was my biggest profit I ever made together with one other trade I don't like talking about... because it makes me sad. Had searched for an unded. Beetle for 3 weeks back at that time in October 2007 (yes yes, Minipet, I'm very noob guy, 2007, blame me!). Finally a friend of mine found one for me at a price of 2000e. I bought the Zippy and gave 100e as a reward to my friend, and planned on settling down with that Beetle. However I still decided to try my luck, maybe a decent profit would be possible....

sold for 3500e within 2hours

How we did the trade:

Guy paid 750e up front (!)
Then 1500e+ unded. Vizu
Then bought back Vizu for 1250e

Well... how prices have changed since then. Beetle is now 1/7 of that price, and Vizu more than 8 times that 1250e if I am informed right?

I'm really enjoying this new subforum. It's great to see some of the biggest, long-running traders talk about the trade of trading. I didn't even get Proph until NF was out, and I didn't get NF and Factions until later, so I've never been around a GW without inscriptions! That made it hard to get in on some of the high end trading (never had more than 180e in storage, and that wasn't for very long), but here are some of my favorite trades:

I decided to start a req 7 sword collection (a few years ago when req 7's were fairly cheap).
Bought a req 7, 15% enchanted Wingblade for 100k+30e.
Bought a req 7, 15% stance Spatha for around the same price.
Bought a req 7, 15%/-10 Crennelated for 100k+100e from Stuey, so of course I paid the most for this one

Bought one or two other req 7 swords, but I can't remember skins/damage mods (I think there was a Long Sword in there somewhere), and I was planning on keeping them until the price skyrocketed, but I got the hack and they all disappeared. Now I wish I'd customized them

I also bought a Wintergreen Spear for 10k (here in the old Sell), and a Wintergreen Shield for something like 40-50k. They got the hack too.

Post hack, I bought a req 9 Illusion 20/20 Illusion Celestial Staff for 100k+7e (when ectos were 5k each) off a guy in Kamadan who was having trouble selling it. Sold it a few days ago for 100k+45e to someone who has its Domination twin and I know is enjoying it.

My very favorite trade, though, was buying a gold Straw Effigy req 9 Soul Reaping, 20/20 Curses for 100k here in Sell. It may not be worth as much money as a lot of other items, but it's by far my favorite item in game, and it's never getting sold (although I know a few people here who would love for me to hand it off

). Now if someone would just trade me a 20/20 Curses Wayward Wand, I'd have a nice happy Edit for this post

I guess it was Todie who got the celestial. I was thinking about it but had to pass.
I had a few r7 swords awhile back that I sold and its funny seeing them go up for sale now for alot more but with no interest. I think non 15^50 for r7 atm is over rated.

Adding to lucky Trades

The other night in Kamadan we were joking around that Serbian was giving away all his money and ectos that it served as a cry wolf situation when a random also said they were giving all their gold away and were quitting. I messaged the person "U Cereal?" lol met in district 5 and got 3 trade windows of 100k for 1 bolt of silk each

After the trade I was called a "Lucky Noob"

Luke I am almost 100% certain those were my 2 swords(wingblade and spatha) I sold a year or 2 back if my time scale is correct might be off. I probably still have a screen. I sold off most of my q7 stuff when I quit GW although I still have my q7 magma since that is pretty much a one of a kind even though the mods suck.

I'm almost certain I bought them from different people, but one of them may have been from you. I bought them around the same time too, so maybe someone bought/resold to me. I'm too lazy to go back and find those posts in my Guru history though...

EDIT: Ha! I actually forgot about my first major trade that got me into trading initially. I got a req 9 tac Summit Warlord Shield (pre insc version in EotN) +45ench / -5(20%) to drop and sold it for 50k, which was enough money to start buying small things (black dyes and 20/20 sword mods mostly to start) and reselling for a profit.

I did alot of farming in past. During Titan's age, farming Titans with friends for getting 6+ a run selling them ea for 15k. Making 80-100k profit a hour. Than in Ursan age of DoA clear selling gemsets 18k ea, making 200k+ a day buying 22e ea to buy the obsidian armor. Also during that age doing Super Clear of one Slayers Exile with friend, a VS r13 drop sold it for 100k+25e. Like everyone who wanted Azian mini's, I made enough ectos to buy me Ded Yeti for 100k+10-15e, after awhile I wanted to buy something so I sold the Mini for 40e.

Bought my GW copy 5years ago and I remember hanging around in pre-searing for around 2weeks and not realising how to gtfo haha The rest of the first year of playing went at pretty much the same excrutiatingly slow rate, progressing slowly through Ascalon and Kryta with a mere 10k or so in storage from farming Mergoyles in Kryta and Devourers in Orr by the time I finally hit the Crystal Desert... which is where I came across the fateful Griffon Farm. 30-40k/hour bliss... And then upon my arrival in the Southern Shiverpeaks the Icy Dragon Sword makes what was then believed to be a shortlived appearance over Christmas. So I pounce on that farm run like a fat kid on a cupcake and manage to grind 14 IDSs in 3days which I then proceeded to selling at 70k a pop in the Granite Citadel.
And here is where the on-topic finally starts. After hitting 1mill at last I became intrigued by req7 items which then gradually bloomed into a blind obsession where I was buying every req7 in sight... After spending a considerable time simply sitting on my pile of hoarded req7s I got bored and I reversed the process, earning a modest profit.
A couple trades that stand out over the years are:
-My first real power trade transaction was a q9curses 10/10 Plat Wand I bought for 15k in Sell and then resold for 80e.
-My first q7s ever-Sold a bunch of -2/-2 Talls, Skeleton and Round Shields for 100e each,
-a req7 15%stance Brute for 75e,
-req7 +5energy Cele for 125e,
-15^50 Schimitar for 105 I think,
-15/-10 Falcion and Wing for around 65e each,
-I always hated inscribables yet got tempted by the Stygian skin before prices collapsed, sold this for around 95e iirc
-sold a q7str +27hp +10demons Celestial Shield and q7 single modded Skeleton Shield for 130e
-My biggest regret (apart from not making a 55hp monk in time) was passing on buying Herb's req7 Wings 15%stance and ench for 100k each... I swear it still hurts years later haha
-getting into Crystallines after buying a q9 14^50 gold unisc for 100e and then a q9 15%stance for 125e.
-Trading/Farming my ass off to afford Kromp's Emblazoned

There a plenty more which I'm just too tired to remember at 4:30am and after a 5month break from gaming

I wish I kept screens of the countless req7s I amassed over the years only to resell them later, it's a shame I can't remember them all

The larger trades I deem less significant due to their purely capitalistic nature and lack of sentimental and nostalgic value
